SMT celebrates Net Zero Week

Net Zero Week is a global initiative focused on raising awareness and driving action towards carbon neutrality. This annual event unites businesses, governments, and individuals to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

For SMT it’s an opportunity to share our environmental objectives and generate awareness on this global challenge:

The 3 scopes and what they cover

Scope 1 emissions are greenhouse gases coming from sources owned or controlled by the company, such as company-owned vehicles and facilities.

Scope 2 refers to indirect emissions coming from the generation of purchased electricity, steam, heating, and cooling consumed by the company.

Scope 3 emissions includes all indirect emissions (not included in Scope 2) that occur in the company’s value chain, including both upstream and downstream emissions. They might be connected to materials and supplies the company buys, or coming from finished products.

We are working hard to set a plan in motion to get to net zero, first by making sure we track the right information and collect the proper data to follow the impact of our operations globally. Second, by putting intermediary steps in place, reflecting the challenges that our activities face in certain parts of the world. There is still a long way to go but we are heading in the right direction together.
